During the course of the semester, we learned the inner workings of cells, from structure and function to communication and signaling. For me, understanding cellular processes at the molecular level is important because I will use this information later on as a pre-medical student. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One aspect of the biomedical sciences program that I truly enjoy is being able to make connections with concepts I have learned from previous classes. When I took Anatomy and Physiology during my sophomore year, I learned about the renin-angiotensin system, which helps control inflammation and blood pressure in your body. As I was writing my scientific literary essay about the  coronavirus spike protein, I learned that the spike protein actually turns off a cell receptor that plays a major role in the renin-angiotensin system, which is how complications can arise from a COVID-19 infection. This was a &#8220;lightbulb&#8221; moment for me where I saw a real-life application to the material I was learning in the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below are a few samples of the work I have
