Course Objective:
The preparation of an electronic portfolio integrating the student’s academic study, work experiences, skill identification, and work products.
Analyzing Job Roles in Cybersecurity:
As part of the IDS 493 course, I conducted a job analysis for a cybersecurity role. This analysis allowed me to identify key responsibilities, required skills, and competencies needed for success in cybersecurity positions.
This analysis helped me recognize how my current skill set aligns with the requirements of this role. However, I identified areas for growth, which I plan to address with continuous learning and certifications like CISSP.
Reflection:
In my reflection essay, I reflect on my development of three critical skills that are essential for my future career in cybersecurity, analytical thinking, technical proficiency with cybersecurity tools, and understanding of legal and ethical frameworks. I integrate my coursework, including a risk assessment report, network traffic analysis, and case studies on cybersecurity topics. Each of these artifacts highlights my ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, preparing me to address complex cybersecurity challenges.
Through this reflection I also demonstrate how I have applied interdisciplinary learning to navigate the legal, ethical, and technical dimensions in cybersecurity. Analyzing both technical aspects and ethical dilemma’s, I have developed a well-rounded approach to problem-solving that involves critical thinking, technical skills, and legal and ethical awareness.
