Additionally they usually<span style=\"font-size: 15px\">\u00a0lack transparency about article processing charges and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">fail to disclose this information\u00a0to authors until after submission; have\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">inaccurate statements about editorial board membership; and often have a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\">misleading or suspicious peer-review processes. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/research-integrity\/information-on-predatory-journals-publishers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More information.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Predatory conferences work much like predatory journals; they are set up to appear like legitimate scientific conferences. These conferences charge high registration fees and are focused on profit over scholarly communication.\u00a0 Like predatory journals, they use spam email tactics to promote their events and may even advertise prominent speakers who have not committed to present.
