This has helped me stay on time and not forget about my assignments throughout the semester.

blog 10: When comparing my initial expectations with my actual outcomes I believe this course and the information that I learned helped me succeed. I believe that I have learned enough to be able to gage attitudes and thoughts in my conversations and arguments. When it comes to the course objectives, I believe that I have learned the processes to attempt to understand others, how their attitudes effect their behavior, and the factors that influence the relationships that we have. My attitude on social psychology have changed over the period of this course do to learning more information that I did not previously know. Although I was interested in confrontation, this course has changed my perspective on approaching people. I am now very appreciative of social psychology and all that it has taught me when it comes to human behavior. If I took this class again, I don’t think I would have done anything differently. I have done well in the course due to keeping up with all of the work and studying for the exams. One way that I have grown academically over this semester is doing my assignments ahead of time. I wrote the entire course syllabus in my school planner and did all of the assignment’s due weekly at the beginning of my week. I learned that writing the course schedules really help me to not forgot about upcoming assignments and stay up to speed with them. One skill that I can use in my professional life as a future physical therapist is being able to interpret people’s attitudes and personalities then basing the way I approach them based off of what I think they can handle.

Blog 9: My favorite thing that I have learned is about my relationship type and the reasons why men and women get upset with each other. I can relate my assignment takeaway 4 to blog 8. I can relate these two topics because I learned that there are many different love types and that you can have more than one in your personality. As well as this I learned that on average women tend to have higher scores in particular love types then men which can describe reasons why men and women get mad at each other. Men and women value different things in a relationship and as I spoke about in blog 8 have different thought processes when it comes to relationships and sex. Secondly, I can relate my assignment 3 takeaway to my module 8 achieve. Assignment three was written based on a video of a racist man. What I took away from this assignment is that people can comprehend racism in different ways, whether it be defending themselves or trying to instill pain. This relates to my module 8 achieve because it discusses stereotypes and whether people have changed their thoughts over time. Like the racist man in the video, people could have taken it as he was just defending himself just like someone who is being stereotyped can choose to not take it personally, rather have it be something that encourages them. Finally, I can relate what I have learned in blog 2 and my module 6 achieves. Blog 2 was about my habits and time management. I talked about my schedule and my role as a student athlete and being able to use my time wisely. While in the module 6 achieve I sat back and evaluated myself throughout a week to determine the characteristics that portray who I am as a person. Many of these characteristics helped support my blog 2 statement that I am a determined and competitive individual who likes to get the job done in everything I do. Finally, I can relate heuristics that I have learned in social psychology to the rules of thumb in chemistry. A heuristic is a mental shortcut that allows people to solve problems quickly and correctly. There are many shortcuts that I have experienced in my math and science classes that save time and thought. For example, in chemistry a rule of thumb is when you increase the temperature by 10 degrees Celsius then it doubles the rate.

I chose this image because the male lied to her and the women is upset and doesn’t want to give the man a chance to speak.

I chose this image of a male being annoyed and trying to walk away from a women being to clingy to him

Blog 8: I agree with the argument in this article. I find it true that men and women have different thought processes when it comes to relationships and sex. The ways in which men upset women is lie, not speak to them, embarrass them in public. From experience I find these three things the most frustrating when it comes to males. No one likes it when someone lies to them, but women tend to be more insecure in relationships and lying causes trust issues. Personally, when my boyfriend embarrasses me in public to impress his friends or to humor others it angers me the most. The ways that I believe women upset men are being self-obsessed, feeling like they can’t express their emotions, and being to clingy. I feel as though males get mad when women are constantly attached to them. I also think that women tend to get annoyed when males express how they feel because women think that they are normally right.

I chose this image because it relates self regulation and emotional intelligence. This image portrays all the their emotions at any given moment and then how they express them.

Blog 7: Self-regulation is the ability to control the emotions inside of us. Research has shown that there is a large link between what we think and what we feel. Some believe they are either rational or emotional thinker, but research has shown that we are both. Emotional intelligence is discovering what are emotions are and being able to respond correctly to them. Self-regulation is our ability to use self-awareness in order to control our emotions and keep our negative reactions under control. For example, someone cutting you off on the highway. Your immediate response may be to yell at that person but yourself regulation can help you control the negative emotions and realize that may not be the best solution. A technique that can help improve your emotional intelligence is breathing exercises. It helps your body to create a gap between what your emotional response is from your fight or flight and allow your neocortex to kick into gear to make the right decision. To me emotional intelligence is the ability to manage my emotions. It involves the skills that I have socially and my awareness to my responses.

image 1: This ad portrays that men in advertisements want to seen as women deep dark secret. I realized that women in ads are perceived as perfect and it is not possible to achieve the perfection of these ads. I did not realize the meaning behind many ads though when relating men to women. The video discusses that advertising tells us who we are and how it should be. Ads tell women what they are supposed to look and portray the time, energy, and money to achieve a goal. Women typically strive to achieve the goal and get upset when the goal is not achieved. Advertisements make it seem as though with their products they will be able to look like the model as seen in the ad, which is not always the case. Men and women differ in advertisements because men don’t live in a world where their bodies are constantly judged based on size. Although there are stereotypes that affect men, they are not conscious to their body type and how they look, but rather how masculinity should be portrayed. Ads for men portray the want to be a women’s deep dark secret, active, and tough.

Blog 5: I chose this as a credible source because the information is coming for a doctor discussing heart disease. I feel this way because music brings people together whether it is just you and your best friend screaming in the car or thousands of people at a concert. The article suggests that it is not similar personalities that link music taste and attraction but rather it is their values. I believe that this is true because people with similar values, for example Christianity, bond over Christian music. It is just natural that people who have values that they practice daily have similar traits such as music taste. I have personally noticed this with my roommate. Both of us share core values such as passion, good humor, and honesty. I think that these traits attract us both to country music because country artists tend to tell stories in their songs. The lyrics take you through a story, for example a heartbreak or love story, and being passionate, honest, and funny helps to appreciate a good story.

Soundtrack:

Hold us together (Matt Maher)- this is a Christian artist and a caregiver of mine as a child always had this CD in her car. She refuses to fail without giving everything she can.

In Case You Didn’t Know (Brett Young)- This song is a country love song and it relates to my roommate because she is very passionate.

American Soldier (Toby Keith)- This song is about soldiers and their duties to protect all Americans. I have many family members in the military and this song is something we always play on the fourth of July and they come together and sing.

Needed Me (Rihanna)- The artist of this song talks directly to her ex about how he needed her, and she was better on her on. This song describes my friends who portray themselves as self-motivated and have high self-esteem.

Same Love (Macklemore)- This song talks about equality for people to love any sex they want. My friend who is bisexual loves this song and they are optimistic and open minded.

Jim Jarret Athletic Administration Building:
I chose this image because this is where I come to study for many of my courses and reminds me that I always have support in everything I do daily.

Blog 2: Reflecting on my habits and time management I tend to think of myself as a hardworking student. I am a student athlete so having to travel and practice while still taking difficult classes is quite a lot of handle. My confidence level is quite high due to the success I have in my classes, but my confidence tends to go down when I take courses that are known to be challenging. This is because I sometimes think that I am not smart enough to handle classes that are know as difficult at the university. I think that working as hard as possible studying, attending class, and working ahead, can increase my confidence levels. I scored a 34 on my self efficiency quiz which is above average meaning my ability to problem solve is the same if not better then most people. This relates to my task accomplishments because I need to be able to manage my time and accomplish all work while playing a division one sport.

Blog 1: I believe that by learning the objectives will help me to better understand people when socializing. Meaning that in future arguments, confrontations, or conversations I will be able to understand why peoples attitudes or interactions are the way they are. This will help me in the future as a physical therapist when dealing with individuals attitudes or frustrations towards injuries. My expectations for the course are that the material is going to be interesting and challenging. I am hoping to gain more knowledge in peoples one on one interactions. I intend on staying and reading ahead on the material and assignments in order to keep up with the amount of work given. I chose this image because it portrays the availability heuristic. Module four discusses the different types of heuristics and this one was the most interesting to me. The availability heuristic is the idea that a person relies on their immediate ability to bring previous examples to mind when making a quick decision.

blog 10: When comparing my initial expectations with my actual outcomes I believe this course and the information that I learned helped me succeed.
