Interpretive Listening

In this section, I will be using the las x y J assignment in lingrolearning. Another assignment I will use will be the pronunciation between the English and Spanish vowels. An outside activity I have done out of class is reintroducing myself to Spanish on Duolingo

I have listened to the difference between vowels in Spanish and English. The assignment was challenging but the key is to take your time and listen to the vowels. With Spanish there is more articulation than in English it’s almost as if everything is accented. The challenging listening assignment in class was the lecture homework on the x and J assignment. It was a bit difficult because I could not figure out whether or not it was an x or j in the spelling. For example, the audio says “Alapa” so I write what I hear and it was wrong. The correct spelling is Xalapa which means that the x was silent. The trick I used for the x was to listen to the ones that sound exactly like the English words such as Mexico. For outside of class, I practice Duolingo to help me form sentences it is a tool that helps with pronunciation and extends basic vocabulary. The only time I consider it a challenge is when I strive to repeat what it says because the articulation in Spanish can be hard to roll off the tongue. My regret was not going over the alphabet first because that would have helped me a bit more. I write what I hear it goes the same way for speaking too but I learned or the trick is to slow down and comprehend what it is I am listening to. These activities helped me grow as a speaker because it just means I need to comprehend so that I can not only understand myself but to understand others as well.
