In this section I will use my interpretive listening assignment from lingrolearning unit 21 was a listening comprehension assignment. Another assignment I will use is from lingrolearning Unit 18 was a listening comprhension assignment as well.
Unit 21 was a bit challenging because I needed to refer to the vocabulary more. Also when the sentence goes a little fast I try to make out because sometimes I have to listen to it several times. It is always a struggle I have because it goes in one ear and out the other. I can sometimes find these assignments interesting because when I do a vocabulary unit I don’t listen to it I say it to myself so that I can work on pronunciation. The assignment was based on definitions from the unit and I had to check the appropriate vocabulary. My take away from it was that it helped me understand the Mate part of the vocabulary and gave it a tie in to traditions and customs for the unit.
In Unit 18 It was challenging as well because I had to listen to each scenario that will match the vocabulary word. In this unit we talked about Identity and it reverted back to reference stereotypes in unit 17. Sometimes the scenarios would be a bit unclear but you would have to work your brain and think. The answer can be clear as day. I was able to overcome it by applying some of the unit 17 vocabulary to make sense of everything that happened. It was hard at first but I was able to get through it.
I believe both activities helped me grow because they led me to research later on about the struggles that cultures have with their ethnic identity. People label others based on what they look like not who they are. Learning how others can adapt and create traditions and customs were really inspiring for me and helped me learn and grow on this journey.
