Presentational Speaking

In this section I will be talking about two Presentations being about a beverage drink of Mate and a poem titled A Woman’s place. These helped me learn about a popular drink in Spanish Speaking countries and another way to express one’s feelings and desires through words.

In my first presentation portion of speaking about is Mate. In some ways it is another form of coffee but it is an herbal tea that can be enjoyed in polite company. Although the unit was very short I did take from how some things can be a custom to show hospitality or tradition. It was a challenging presentation because I needed to learn how to make mate so I researched. It helped me over come it at the time but what made me miss the full grasp of the assignment. It was not just about mate but what customs or traditions would I do with the beverage or what can I do show hospitality in my home. If I knew what I know now I would have done the assignment differently for a different answer with the presentation.

In my second presentation it was a unit about poetry and for my assignment we had to provide a poem that formed around identity. This part of the presentation was a little hard because my poem was not fully in Spanish but it was about Identity. Nothing about the poem lacked in the department. I picked it because it voice how growing up in a tradition Hispanic culture voicing a woman’s opinion. I love how the poem develop a voice for women which in the end helped me do research. I thought it was insightful because it tells the struggle of Women in the Hispanic culture but personally it voice about women all over the world should sit and not speak. That old fiery rage did help me with the presentation and knowing that I’m not the only one that is struggling with a place in life can be comforting. What i would do differently next time is to find a poem in Spanish and has twelve lines.
