How each of them has its categories, and yet, in the end, has the same goal: prevent the pathogen from doing any further damage to the immune system. For example, The complement pathways in innate immunity, all start with something different– the classical pathway utilizes antibodies, the alternative pathway utilizes microbial surfaces, and the lectin pathway activates when mannose is present because they are produced by bacteria– yet their end goal is to eliminate invading pathogens. Learning this in Immunology helped me do better in my Anatomy class because the last chapter we learned about is the immune system, and given that I had already tackled it, felt like a refresher in my mind. Furthermore, learning so much about cells fighting off pathogens and how can pathogens harm us, surely made me more cautious of my environment– things I touch, what happens if I do not wash my hands properly, when I am sick, running a fever, etc. I think Immunology truly opened my mind with a broader perspective of how cells work per second of our lives and keep us healthy as well as alive.

A topic that I was completely kindled by is how the cells work to fight off pathogens.
