Digital Forensics<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

This course introduces the basic concepts and technologies of digital forensics. Students will learn the fundamental techniques and tools utilized for collecting, processing, and preserving digital evidence on computers, mobile devices, networks, and cloud computing environments. Students will also engage in oral and written communication to report digital forensic findings and prepare court presentation materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of this course students will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Recognize the duties of a digital forensic investigator and the requirements of a lab environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Utilize data collection tools and methods necessary for recovering and identifying different digital forensic artifacts left by attacks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Utilize appropriate methods to preserve the integrity of digital evidence and acquire a forensically sound image.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Analyze different types of digital evidence to extract the related information important to a case under investigation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Prepare evidence, findings and results of analysis in a digital forensic report.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Course Material<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

    In my Digital Forensics course, taught online by Professor Bryan Bechard during the Fall 2023 semester, I immersed myself in the foundational concepts and technologies of digital forensics. This course was particularly engaging as it provided a thorough overview of how digital evidence is collected, processed, and preserved across various platforms, including computers, mobile devices, networks, and cloud environments. My project focused on the role of digital forensics in investigating cybercrime, where I explored the implications of digital evidence in legal contexts and its impact on law enforcement practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Collaborating with my peers, I participated in discussions and hands-on lab exercises that enhanced my understanding of critical forensic techniques and tools. Through these activities, I gained practical experience in identifying, acquiring, and preserving digital evidence while ensuring its integrity. The course emphasized the importance of effective communication, as I had to report my findings and prepare presentation materials suitable for a court setting. This experience was pivotal for me, as it not only deepened my comprehension of digital forensics but also highlighted the necessity of interdisciplinary skills in tackling cyber-related issues. The course stood out because it equipped me with essential analytical and technical skills, making me more proficient in navigating the complexities of digital investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This artifact represents my ability to conceptualize and design a structured approach to digital forensics investigations.
