Cyber Technology has significantly impacted how offenders and victims interact. Being that we are living in a technology driven society. Criminals are constantly trying to find different ways to to deceive people. Most of the time, people who commit internet crimes are typically after some sort of financial gain. Some people don’t even acknowledge that crimes can take place on the internet. When in fact, the internet has made it extremely easy for criminals to break the law. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Normally, when you think of someone committing a crime you think of a physical interaction between an offender and a victim. An example of this would be if someone broke into another persons home and stole money and other personal items from the homeowner. Now, in the digital world this can be compared to someone hacking into your computer by installing malware onto it. When the hacker successfully installs malware onto the computer they are able to steal the owner of the laptops personal information or even their money. Nowadays, a lot of people keep a great deal of PII on their laptop. So, something as simple as not updating your computer, having weak passwords, or not having antivirus software on your computer will allow hackers to take advantage of these security issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Technology has given criminals more room to take advantage of people and sometimes doing so without the victim even knowing that someone is taking advantage of them. Lot’s of people don’t really know what to even look for if they are being hacked.
