Improve Communication and Client Interaction skills

During my internship with Meals on Wheels of Chesapeake, I intend on strengthen my communication and interpersonal skills when working with clients, administrators, co-workers, volunteers, and staff members. Having effective communication in healthcare administration is essential as it increases the effectiveness and delivery of necessary services. I plan to achieve this goal by actively participating in interactions with clients, working under and observing experienced members of staff, and practicing professional techniques as I learn them. I also plan to listen to feedback from my preceptor on areas that I need to improve on. Following the conclusion of my internship, I expect to have more confidence and knowledge regarding communication with clients in a professional healthcare setting.

Strengthen Organizational and Time Management Skills

Improving my organizational and time management skills is a key aspect in healthcare administration. Effective healthcare administrators are required to manage multiple responsibilities, while ensuring that all responsibilities are completed in an accurate and efficient manner. I plan to achieve this goal by maintaining a set schedule and completing all of course work, as well as work from the internship. I also plan on seeking guidance and feedback from my preceptor on how to continue improving my skills in these areas. Upon finishing my internship, I aspire to have stronger organizational and time management habits that will benefit me moving forward on a professional level.

Enhance Leadership and Problem-Solving Abilities

I want to improve my leadership and problem-solving skills by contributing to organizational goals. Healthcare administrators must be able to identify challenges and find solutions that lead to better outcomes and improved services. I will work toward this goal by maintaining my personal responsibilities given to me by my preceptor, assist with projects, and working with all team members. At times where challenges are present, I will analyze the situation and ask for guidance while developing possible solutions. By the end of my internship, I aspire to have more experience and confidence in my ability to lead and solve problems in a professional environment.
