I have taken a Social Media Disorder scale questionnaire. I scored a 2/9, which is below the threshold for what could be diagnosed as Social Media Disorder, which I think is accurate, at least as far as this quiz was concerned. I believe the questions asked, while reflective of the most disruptive behaviors, do not cover the full extent of disruptive social media use. For instance, I will on occasion click a YouTube Short that comes across my YouTube homepage if it seems interesting to me, then find myself compulsively scrolling for longer than I perhaps intended. I am not necessarily “trying” to spend less time on social media and failing, nor is this necessarily interfering with my hobbies or wider social life. I personally would recommend the specific questionnaire I took to add questions relating to social media’s interference with health, hygiene, and social life beyond sparking arguments with immediate family.
