The main two things that I feel like I grasped the most we’re their ability to perceive or attempt to understand others and integrating my learning between my other courses. Throughout this course, I feel like with each assignment I grew to grasp this information in apply it to not only my assignments but my life in general. if I could do anything differently, I would probably read more of the textbook so that I would get better since those What I was learning. I have gained information on how relationships may build and break because of issues that people might subconsciously deal with. I feel that this social psychology course will benefit me in my journey to be a dentist because I will be dealing with all types of different people from all different backgrounds. this will help me have a better understanding of why people act in doing things. I chose pictures of the course objectives and a highlighted outline of the assignment. I feel like I have completed all the assignments required to finish this course and have a better understanding.

Blog 9

My e-portfolio is a culmination of all the topics that we’ve talked about this semester in my thoughts on those topics. In one of my blogs, I talked about What kind of student I was and then I had to do an assignment take away talking about myself as an individual. These two concepts intertwined with my assignment on self-portraits. I talked about the SQR Score in it rated how confident I would be in most situations. these assignments helped me in my Innovator monitor program because we have to present at a formal event, and we needed to know if we were confident enough to present to this important group of people. Knowing this I knew that I was confident he no to not only present but continue this program. I chose this image because it showed my whole e-portfolio and my about me. After all, this portfolio is about me and my opinion on the assignments in this course.

Blog 8

I thought this article made a lot of sense. In the part of the article that talked about communication with the partner I see nowadays that People tend to stretch the truth when they first meet someone that they like because they want to impress them, I also believe but once they are in a relationship if their partner is being looked at in a certain way by another person they tend to get jealous. I feel like it is a natural thing because babies like their partner and don’t want to lose them. I feel like there are many ways that men upset women. One example I can think of is when a man does not pay attention to a woman but says they are. Another example would be when a man talks down or believes that they are above women thinking that the woman is inferior. On the flip side, women can also anger men. One away being if a man is trying to do something nice for them yet they instead show attitude and are not appreciative. another example would be women saying they’re fine but not telling the man the problem so they can talk about it.

West New York, New Jersey, USA — Angry African American couple standing back to back — Image by © Jose Luis Pelaez, Inc./Blend Images/Corbis

Blog 7

I believe self-regulation and emotional intelligence go hand in hand. To me, emotional intelligence means the ability to judge a situation in a smart and rational way. I believe this goes along with the unit where we talked about heuristics. We are thinking through the problem and then passing a judgment think not only of the present but how it will affect us after the action is done. I have displayed EQ many times in my life for example at work. When a customer comes to me with a bad attitude and are rude to me I don’t just sass them back I take a breather and continue to give them positive service and not return them with negativity because I know this is my job and I don’t want to get in trouble. After work then I can release my frustration. I believe taking that breathe improved my EQ.

Blog 6

This Ted talk reminded me that ads do tend to put stereotypic content that tends to dehumanize people within the ad. I thought this Ted talk was very informative and made me view adds in a new perspective. Prior to this video I have noticed that women I’ve been overly sexualized not only in ads but in television in general. Ads do tend to stereotype people buy their race, gender, and sexual orientation. The people who do the ads tend to think that it is funny some people will most likely buy the product. This Ted talk made me Look at some of the ads that I’ve seen before and see if there was any manipulation being done and I have spotted it. The prime example would be the Katy Perry chips ad because I didn’t know that the association to her breast till, I looked further into it. The ad with the children and the bananas is sexualizing children to sell the bananas like talked in the Ted Talk. Children are being sexualized at such a young age. The words on the Fat Shack ad gives off an applied meaning to the male sex organ. While the other two ads suggest that women are easy and are for the male’s convenience.

Blog 5

Creditable Source: The first ad I choose was a Colgate Total ad. This is a creditable source because it is from a recognizable brand. Also, it is a recommended brand from dental professionals. Many people trust this brand for their teeth care. Link: https://www.colgate.com/en-us

Not Creditable Source: The second ad I choose was for wrinkle cream. I felt like it was not a creditable source because it presented an impossible-looking picture of an elderly lady using the cream then 60 minutes later looking younger and wrinkle-free. This product target market was obviously geared towards older people who care about their looks. They are trying to make a profit from unrealistic prospects. This was a great example because it has a recognizable celebrity on the front of the ad. Zendaya is a young actress who we likely attract a younger audience which will make the females want to buy the product. I found it effective because Zendaya is one of my favorite celebrities and that is what drew me to picking this advertisement in the first place. People like what their “idol” likes and they will tend to buy products just because their “idol” uses that product. I reviewed my exam 1 on Blackboard and yes, I did get a good score and there wasn’t much for me to look over, but I feel like I could have done more to study so I wouldn’t have gotten those questions wrong. I did do the study guide, but I started on it late so next time I will start the study guide well before the exam is out so that I can have more time to prepare. I also went over my slides in preparation but I think I needed to go more in-depth in the textbook so I can understand the concepts better. A good tool was rereading the assignment we did because I remembered the examples I did on heuristics and that helped me when a question came up on the test. Overall, I feel like this first exam will help me with other exams because I now know the layout of the exam and how much time I will need to answer each question. I feel like that I will do better on the exam to follow.

Blog 3

I believe that there is a connection between music and relationships. I thought that if people had similar tastes in music that those people had some personality traits that were similar, but that didn’t necessarily mean that they would be attracted to each other. Although like in the article Soul Meets Body, I agree that liking the same music means that that person might have similar values as the individual. I feel like just like there are different genres of music there are different genres of people and similar people like similar types of music. They like the message or flow of that is behind the music and that attracts the. For example, one of the songs I picked is Born to Be Brave from the cast of High School Musical the Musical the Series and Miss Independent by Ne-Yo. I picked these songs because they inspire confidence and independence. This song inspires me to continue to be true to myself and to stay originally me. Another couple of songs I picked were selected by my friends who picked Another Story by Burna Boy ft. M.anifest and Fine Wine and Hennessy by Afro B and Slim Jxmmi these songs me of when my friends went to a cultural show last year and we danced to those songs over and over afterward. These final songs, How Could You Leave Us by NF and First Man by Camilla Cabello remind me of my dad. I’m the type of student that enjoys the assignments I work on, but if I don’t, I’ll still work hard on the assignment to get good grades. I believe that I am good students that get better than average grades because I take that extra step that most other students wouldn’t strive to make. I am confident in myself as a student and my work ethic, but sometimes I do get overwhelmed with higher-level classes. Nevertheless, I have the perseverance to push through and get the work done. I believe I could increase that confidence by studying for my classes more so that I will know the material which will lead me to get better grades in class. I also believe if I became more organized with not only my schoolwork but with my life it will increase my confidence in myself. On the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE) I received a 34 and a mean of 3.4 meaning that I have a high degree of self-confidence in the fact that I can complete a task. Showing that if I start a task, I will most likely finish it. This goes with what I was saying that I am very determined to finish a task once I have started it, making me a relatively good student. For example, I have graduated from high school, applied and got into college, completed a hard lab course, and I am on track to graduate from college on time. These are all tasks that I have taken me a long time to do but with hard work I have achieved them.

Blog 1

Anchoring and Adjustment Heuristics: Reflection

The reason I choose this slide because it describes anchoring and adjustment heuristics. In the textbook anchoring and adjustment, heuristics are defined as a heuristic that involves the tendency to use several values as a starting point to which we then make adjustments. This was one of my favorite heuristics because it can be used with anything we do in life. To start an assignment, or a business project you need to have a starting point and once you’ve figured out that starting point you can come up with new ideas to make whatever you are doing better and show improvement from that starting point. Knowing about this process will help me to think more innovatively and more problem, solution-based. If I keep making a connection like this to my notes I will hopefully get a better understanding of how to use these processes outside this class and towards my future career path.

Blog 10 I feel that I have achieved the course objectives listed in the syllabus.
