This semester I am looking forward to gaining new knowledge from all the classes I am taking and meeting some new people in the area. My biggest challenge this semester will probably be adapting to improve my study habits. My time commitments will be to get my work done at an earlier time before they are due and spend at least 30 min for each class to get the work completed. I plan to balance this commitment by after my last class each day to get started on my work since I like to go out at night! In high school I wasPresident of the student government, a part of national honor society, captain of varsity and competition team all 4 years, an ambassador of the human rights commission, secretary of zeta phi beta youth group, and a part of the healthy youth communities club.I do not plan on joining any clubs this semester only because I would really like to get a feel of how everything is on campus, but I plan on engaging in some clubs soon. My intended major is nursing because all the females in my family started off in the nursing path but never finished so it motivates me to become the first daughter, grandchild, niece, cousin, etc… to become the first nurse in our family because it is something I am deeply passionate about becoming. I have great people skills, communication skills, organization skills, and decision-making skills. I do not have any experience, but I am super eager to start learning. My career goals 5 to 10 years from now are to be working in a hospital learning about each of the departments in a trauma center. The biggest difference I expected between high school and college is maintaining a lot more responsibility for everything I do and making certain decisions for myself. I believe there is a difference between studying and homework. When you are studying you are spending quality time understanding the content you want to gain information from. Doing homework is completing an assignment that has guidelines for you to complete. I plan to study at least 45 minutes to an hour a week for each class that I am in which is introductory chemistry lecture and lab, interpreting the American past, intro to health professions, music in history and culture, and intro to sociology. I plan to study in my room most of the time because I focus better in quiet spaces. The time of day that is best for me to study is in the evening time.
