I am doing well in all of my classes, although I am not a great test taker so my exam grades have been slowly weighing down on my grades a little. I have been turning in my work on time and have been managing it even though it has been a bit overwhelming. I need assistance in my chemistry class and history class.Changes I have made were visiting the library more. I find that I am more productive in the library other than my room. I have also been using youtube and khan academy to help me with understanding my work better. Expectations I had coming to college were being able to manage more responsibilities on my own for my education, organizing my time and tasks, and setting goals for myself to be successful. These expectations have definitely been hitting pretty hard.Responsibility wise I have not really been on top of things I want to be due to my procrastination and last minute habit which I have been trying to better my habits in that particular area. The workload has definitely surprised me just because I didn’t think it would be as much as I thought it would be. My toughest challenge moving away from college has been adjusting to living on my own and also with someone i just met, even though me and my roommate have no issues at all it definitely is an adjustment living with someone you have never known before. Something I have learned about my intended major so far was all of the important requirements and time I will have to put into my intended major. I got to look at the grading scale and it is a pretty strict grading scale which is intimidating but also understandable. I have had some feelings toward changing my major just because of how I am handling things with my classes right now, but I believe in myself that I can make changes to the way I handle school in order to get through all of the things I need to in order to accomplish my goals of becoming a nurse. I am interested in learning more about forensic science as a minor just in case nursing does not completely work out. I have come to the conclusion that sometimes before exams i get a little test taking anxiety and then tend to not do well on my exams. Resources I can utilize at ODU are maybe talking to an academic coach or scheduling appointments with tutors before exams just to make sure that I have all of the material understood. My roommate has helped me this semester just because we are both understanding of each other and kind of in the same predicament so we help each other out. I have joined NSA just to get some insight on my future career and also to get guidance on how I can maybe prepare myself for the career I want.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
