I chose Data Privacy Officer and Cybersecurity Lawyer. I want to lay out the definitions and what caught my eye when reading the article.

Data Privacy Officer – Ensure legal compliance related to data protection.

Cybersecurity Lawyer – Attorney focused on info/cyber security and cybercrime.

Both occupations focused on cyber security and the law. I am currently a criminal justice major and would love to end up in law. I am currently serving in the Navy as a Yeoman within the legal community. Data Privacy Officer translates to what I am doing currently. According to Linked In, a Data Privacy Officer serves as someone who will work administratively and within the legal department. The skills required for this job are organization, communication, management, as well as privacy. My biggest surprise is the pay. The current salary median is between 50k and 150k.

A cybersecurity lawyer is a job that is in demand. Within the last 20 years the internet has become a household necessity for most people. During COVID, the rise in teleworking increased and since COVID the rise of remote jobs has increased. Since the internet has increased in these areas, cybersecurity lawyers have become a fundamental need. Cyber security law focused on the legislation portion of internet use. Cybersecurity lawyers are like any other type of specialty, they need to understand law and their specialty, in this case, technology. The skills required for cybersecurity lawyer include the basic understanding of law, a Juris Doctorate, and an understanding of cyber law. My biggest surprise is that cybersecurity lawyers can either work in litigation or work as advisors. I came into this thinking that cybersecurity lawyers do not advise as heavily as they do.
