Being the Squad leader, Platoon leader, and currently the Academics officer which means that I have put out information that others have to follow almost every day. Also, with the fraternity I have to always check our chats and monitor other brothers’ actions and make sure nothing gets out of hand and when I am in class or doing something else I also communicate with my standards board to do the same.

Determination

I have been able to adapt in many different circumstances. The one that was the most difficult though is when I was going into my freshman year and had to make a 4 year plan of all of my classes as a computer science major. My sophomore year is when I changed to cybersecurity and had to redo all of my classes and now, I’ve had to take about 19-21 credits per semester from my sophomore year until now or else I would have lost my 4-year scholarship with Navy ROTC.

Leadership

My leadership roles in NROTC and in my fraternity Pi Kappa Phi have definitely given me some struggles, but I am currently in my 2 most challenging positions at the same time. I am the Academics officer for NROTC which gets me to make sure that all incoming students into the program have their 4-year plans and that they will be on track for their whole time in college. I also make sure that everyone that is taking a hard class is going to their mandatory study hours every week, so they never get behind. My position in the fraternity is the standards board chairman and that job means that I make sure no brothers have any issues with one another and being the mediator. If there is an issue, then I am the one that takes it up to my board and does paperwork on the proper steps to resolve issues and make sure no brothers break any of our laws of being proper men and our religious values.

Work Habits

Dealing with all of these positions while also taking 19 credits currently shows that I have the proper habits to hold myself accountable and make time for everything in my life. I make sure that I get all of the inputs for everyone’s study hours at 4:30-5AM and prepare myself for my meeting with the ROTC members after our labs and physical training at 6AM. Later in the morning I complete some of my assignments and sometimes complete assignments depending on if I have any events that I have to make it to. Then I run into any standards board issues as they come at any time in the day.

Future Goals

I put such a heavy workload while in college because I love the responsibility as well as making it hard so that when I commission in the Navy then it won’t seem as bad or what I am already used to doing. When I get in the Navy, I hope to become an intel officer which will also line up with my major and what I plan on doing in the future. The leadership qualities I have obtained throughout the way also will only help me become a more reliable person in my positions in the Navy.

Communication The positions that I have held in the fraternity and NROTC show that I have good communication skills.
