There is always going to be an overlap with regards to criminal justice and cybercrime.  This overlay and divide are only going to get bigger we get more technologically advanced.  These days it is much more common for crime to committed online rather than have the crime be committed in person. This makes is almost impossible for the fields of cybercrime and criminal justice to not overlap.   A big place of where cybercrime and criminal justice coincide is what I would call the dark web.  The Dark Web is defined as” hidden part of the world wide web that can only be accessed using a special browser known as Tor.”  This is where cyber criminals can steal and sell your data or financial info to the highest bidder.  These offenses are illegal and if the cyber criminals are caught, they can be arrested and jailed.  Cybercrimes like this are becoming more common due to the increasing chances that is much more difficult to be caught and arrested.  These crimes can sometimes also involve physical evidence also if committed at an office in person.  Examples of such evidence would be hard drive etc.  These types of evidence would be considered evidence and could be used in court.  Another time both criminal justice and cybercrime overlay is Black Hat Hackers.  They are hackers who are motivated by profit and who “usually have extensive knowledge about breaking into computer networks and bypassing security protocols.”  This criminal motivation leads these hackers to write malware to gain access to a system to that they can steal “data” and sell it to the highest bidder on the dark web.  They can also do jail time if they are caught.  This overlap or overlay is related ti reading about this criminal behavior and that criminal justice programs need to have these item in the curriculum more.  I sincerely believe though that more colleges will put cybercrime in more criminal justice programs in more college countrywide.
