My self-enhancement strategies were somewhat different from when I first met my mother-in-law and a job interview, although some of these strategies were similar! Preparation is beneficial when it comes to presenting the self that you want to be remembered most. I included an interview preparation checklist.

A3- Module 3

This module was engaging because it’s interesting to see the theories of attraction. I have a foot in both sides. When it comes to love relationships, in my experience it has been that opposites attract. You need a yin to your yang, because who wants to date themselves? When it comes to social groups, I think birds of a feather.. By asking friends, I have found a pretty even split between what people agree with. I chose a picture of the Golden Girls because I think it is a good representation of similarities attract. It is a group of white women with similar class standing, similar age group, and in the same stage of life, and they all look like they could be related. There are some personality differences, but overall, I think the similarities draw them together.

A2- Module 8

I found this module engaging because I am very invested in the pursuit of ending systemic racism and I think this module supported a lot of information that is readily denied by a majority of the (white) population in America. I learned that even though stereotypes may shift, they seem to stay similar over time. The most interesting thing from this module to me was learning about the reduction of prejudice by way of exposure. I included a word cloud of characteristics of a group I identify with. I chose “woman” simply because I do not identify with a specific race.

A1- Module 14

This was my favorite module because I like to think of myself as a happy person and the more I think about happiness, the more happy I tend to feel. I enjoy seeing other people happy as well. Before I took the survey I assumed I would score above average but it turns out, I had an average score. The most relevant thing I learned from this module is that happiness is very perceptive and individual. I also think the more pressure we put on ourselves to comply with social norms, the less happy we will be. My life is a little different than a lot of my peers the same age as me but I still consider myself to be a very happy person. I included a picture of myself with my children because they bring most of the happiness in my life.

A5- Module 13 It was interesting learning the different aspects groups and the hierarchies between them and of negotiation between members.
