Highland Park is a college-aged dominated area across from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Many of the properties and even the older dorms were built in the vicinity of the Lafayette River, a tributary of the Elizabeth River. There are no parks within this area, however ODU offers numerous green spaces for recreation on the main campus across the street.

Monarch Way, a retail and residential area within Highland Park, offers numerous places for entertainment, restaurants and shopping.
