World Religions: Beliefs and Values<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A comparative and philosophical study of major world religions in the Eastern and Western traditions with particular attention being paid to their views about the basis of right action and the nature of good and evil. Other points of comparison include the foundations of religious knowledge and belief, the meaning of human life, divinity, and death and immortality.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Did This Experience Entail?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of this course is to expand cultural sensitivity and awareness through religion and beliefs and this course required me to become adaptable and open-minded. The majority of these assignments were knowledge based through quizzes on various topics throughout each text with a comprehensive final paper. <\/p>\n\n\n

How Will This Experience Help Me In The Future?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This course has made a positive contribution in my academic career and future professional career because I have applied my cultural and religious awareness to enhance my ability to view information in a multifaceted tactic in my psychology and philosophy courses. What sparked my interest in psychology was my curiosity of what moment in an individual’s past lead to the perspectives, reactions, and interactions with the world. The experience that I gained has enhanced my original curiosity and lead me to my desired research goal in graduate school; How does fear and anxiety translate in each culture?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Did I Gain From This Experience?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The readings from the course facilitated and encouraged me to explore and analyse how individuals would interact with the world based on their cultural and religious beliefs. As this experience is a philosophy course, I have gained skills to critically think and critique discussed beliefs and values in a controlled and unbiased presentation. The responsibility of effectively studying and applying my knowledge in this course strengthened my time management skills to write a quality paper and study effectively. Time management skills and prioritising my workload is an essential skill for both graduate school and my future professional career. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
