About Me

Hello! My name is Seth Santiago, and I am a student at Old Dominion University. I am in my Junior year of college and transferred from Virginia Peninsula Community College. I have completed my Associate’s Degree in Information Systems Technology at VPCC, and am currently going for my Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity at ODU. I take all asynchronous classes because I work full-time during the day and am a full-time student at night. I currently work for Newport News Public Schools in the warehouse section driving trucks and delivering mail to all the schools in the district. I am searching for jobs that are more suited to my degree in the technology field, such as an IT Support Analyst I for Bayport Credit Union or transferring to the Technology division on NNPS. I have also been looking for IT jobs for the government because ultimately that is where I would like to start my career. I plan to have my career in the government and start the process of “house hacking”. House hacking is the financial process of owning properties and generating income from renters. I plan to start with a triplex or quadplex, renting three of the vacant units, living in the fourth unit, and having the other three tenants paying for the cost of the property. This would allow me to live rent free, own the property, and eventually generate enough income to pay for a house or another triplex or quadplex. After generating enough income from multiple properties and creating streamline income, I plan to retire early and pursue my passion of working on cars, building PC’s, and gaming. Before I started college, I used to stream on twitch and found that I really enjoyed the interactions and setup of everything and even started monetizing my content, but was left with the decision to either make money from stream and have a low income job or dedicate a few years to my education. I also enjoy building PC’s and modifying cars but very soon found out that the pay isn’t nearly as good as the higher end jobs of cybersecurity.
