Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

Growing up I’ve always been very caring and passionate about what I do, which is why I have always wanted a job that is focused on helping other people. There was actually many career paths that I wanted to do while growing up but I didn’t really want to go to college for an extended period of time. My dad and I have always had a very close relationship, we often watch tv series based on crime like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Quantico, and Criminal Minds. After watching Criminal Minds, I immediately fell in love with how Penelope Garcia fought crime through a computer, and that was an eye-opener for me. That was when I knew that I wanted to pursue a career within the FBI. My dad also has a huge influence on why I am interested in cybersecurity because he is a computer technician, and he has also just been a huge inspiration in my life, and I just want to make him proud. I would like to be able to able to help catch criminals through cybersecurity and also keep companies’ information secured. One thing that I like about the cybersecurity field is how broad it is because there are so many different jobs that you can get in cybersecurity. Some of the many careers in cybersecurity are Threat Hunters, Red Teamers, Digital Forensics Analysts, Incident Response Team members, and so much more. The jobs in this career are just so cool and interesting and I feel like I will never get bored with this career. One of the other reasons why I choose this major is because my mom often needs my help with her computer, and she says that I am very good with computers and technology in general. Which is also why I think I would be a natural for this career. I am very excited to take this class and learn more about cybersecurity.
