How can you tell if your computer is safe?

Keeping your computer safe helps you avoid malware and hacking attempts that are used to steal your personal information. Some tips you can use to protect your computer are first and foremost a firewall. A Firewall is network security that is installed on your computer, it monitors and regulates traffic and permits or blocks data packages that are based on a set of security rules. Its purpose is to block malicious traffic like viruses and hackers. The next step you can follow is to make sure that your software is up to date. You can do this by turning on your automatic updates on Windows Update. After that, you will use an antivirus to keep your device current if you run Windows then you should already have this installed on your device. Some other tips to follow would be to make sure your passwords are chosen well and that they are protected, you can do this by using authentication. Suspicious attachments or unusual linked messages may appear in emails, tweets, posts, online ads, messages, or attachments, and sometimes disguise themselves as known and trusted sources, when you see something suspicious make sure that you don’t click on it or open it. You will need to browse the web safely and stay away from pirated material. Also, don’t use USBs or other external devices unless you own them. Another step that you can take to protect your computer is to make sure your browser plugins are updated this will protect you from infections and attacks. Make sure that you delete your files permanently, at least the files that you do not use anymore. If you ever have a virus you need to look out for your computer acting strangely like glitching or running abnormally slow.
