Describe three ways that computers have made the world safer and less safe.

Technology is a huge part of our daily lives. It has made drastic improvements to our life, and it has made life so much easier in many ways. But there are positive things that come with technology, but there are also negative things. However, the positives outweigh the negative things that comes with technology.

One of the three ways that technology has made the world safer is through MEC and 5G. One of the main challenges emergency responders go through is miscommunication. Emergency responders only work with the information that is provided to them. Emergency responders sometimes get information from two or more parties which can make things unclear and not well-defined. This can cause confusion. Communication is one of the most vital aspects of emergency response. When there is miscommunication about the location or the subject matter about what is happening, a citizen’s safety remains in danger. Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) shifts cloud computing functions and brings them closer to the user. When coupled up with 5G, they become a vital force in the public safety field. First responders get fast and seamless communication. It also provides instant feedback. It also provides image recognition, video surveillance, and real-time analytics. With artificial intelligence, the responders can get immediate responses and analyze the situation on the scene. Another way that technology has made the world safer is through security apps. Technology is used in many ways to protect people from danger. Some crimes, such as domestic abuse, stalking, and burglary can be prevented. Mobile security apps enable the responders to get an exact location and connect with victims who are not able to make a call. Another way that technology helps make the world a safer place is a feature on the iPhone 14 that detects when you have been in a crash. This feature can help connect you to emergency services and notify your emergency contact.

Three ways that computers have made the world less safe are through cybercrimes, such as hacking, spoofing, ransomware, etc. Most cybercrimes are carried out in order to generate profit for cybercriminals. Another way that computers have made the world a less safe space is because people can access your location which can lead to human trafficking. There have also been cases where rappers have posted their location and ended up in danger because of it. Other reasons why computers have made the world less safe is because of stalking and cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a real problem in the world which results in mental illness and sometimes even suicide.
