For CRJS\/SOC 436 Capstone, I learned how to take a real question and work through it with actual data instead of just going based off of assumptions. Our capstone project looked at internet use and face-to-face interaction, specifically time spent with friends, relatives, and neighbors. What stood out to me was that internet use did not impact every relationship in the same way. The strongest pattern was with friendships, where higher internet use was linked to less in-person time with friends, while family interactions stayed more consistent. This project also taught me a lot about group work, and not in the overused “teamwork makes the dream work” way. It was EXTREMELY difficult the majority of the time because I only had one other group member out of four that was in constant communication with me and we made up over 90% of the project. Albeit, it forced me to be patient, stay focused and produce what was needed, and figure out how to keep moving forward even the group process was messy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
