I believe that the human-machine bond will grow exponentially, forever. It is accepted that digital interface has become a significant component of our existence. We individually and independently rely on cyber technology, and we also depend on it as a species. In fact, it is my belief that many species depend on it. As with any relationship, human-to-human or human-to-machine, trust is paramount.

Trust in your cyber tools is important for many considerations such as securing your privacy, finances, communication, and ideas. Trust in cyber machines is individual and organizational. If I classified my primary interest in cybersecurity technology it would be the bond, the trust, between the small organization and their communication. This is largely influenced by my experience professionally in small organizations or teams. During my professional life I have relied on secured and trusted networks and machine relationships to provide life support and critical information. Organizations and teams are dependent on other organizations and teams. The communication which connects them is critical and I believe the most important aspect that cybersecurity technology impacts.

Leveraging cyber tools compared to a scenario where they aren’t creates a dominant situation. Our society regardless of advances will always value if not require human-in-the-loop applications of cyber. I do not feel that same ethical obligation is present in all societies. Some societies will develop and employ cyber systems free from human intervention. I think that it is important for us to stick to our principle of human-machine teams although the duration in which cyber tools operate autonomously will grow, we should ensure that it is based on instruction and human relationships. To me the critical component is the communication in this ethical application of cyber technology.

Increasingly exciting times lay ahead. The invention and innovation applied to cyber technology will certainly change the world in ways we can foresee and ways we can’t.
