My name is Justinn Richardson. I’m from Broward County, Florida (City of Lauderhill) and I chose ODU because it was the only school that accepted me to be honest. Really don’t take part in a lot things, I stay in my room, eat a lot food and buy whole a lot sneakers. What I learned from my topic was anti and pro slavery forces came together at a significant point in history and fought for what they believed in.
My name is Brandyn Winn, and I’m from Petersburg, VA but I attended middle and high school in Woodbridge, VA. I graduated from Forest Park High School and I chose ODU because I had already lived in the 804 area and the 703 are, so the 757 area is the only other major part of Virginia that I hadn’t really seen much of yet and all of my other options were out of state. My hobbies include playing video games, making and listening to music, playing basketball, and working out. From this project I have expanded on what I already knew about the efforts to abolish slavery. It has shown me that the freeing of my ancestors was a long and rigorous process that didn’t happen overnight.
My name is Joseph Ritter, and I am a junior at ODU studying Computer Science and I am from Newport News, VA. I decided to come to ODU because it was cheaper than the other schools I got into and it was close too home but not too close. Some of my hobbies are fighting games, music, and skating. This project allowed me to gain deeper knowledge about the way slavery was viewed in the 1800’s and all of the factors that went into making abolition a reality.
