Verbeek explains to us that technology is becoming part of our every day lives, with smart devices and connected systems making decisions and collecting information all the time. Because of this, businesses should also have stronger rules about making sure they are protecting people’s privacy and being honest about how they collect and use the data. They shouldn’t be able to use smart technology to manipulate people or sell personal information without permission. Groups that create or manage technology should also make sure it is fair and doesn’t harm people. Individuals also have a responsibility too. People should make sure to learn how technology works, how to protect their personal information, and to think carefully before sharing a lot of things online. Since technology is also becoming more connected, everyone’s choices can affect other people too. I personally don’t think the government should have control over everything and technology, but I do think it should still create basic laws that protect privacy, security, and fairness. As humans we all have a role in making sure technology is used responsibly. It is obvious that technology just keeps becoming a bigger part of our lives, businesses, governments, and regular people all need to work together to make sure it helps society instead of causing problems. We can’t just assume the government is going to make sure that they have covered all of technology, we all share a role.
","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
When the government has less control over technology, I believe businesses, groups, and individuals should carry more responsibility for making sure to use it the right way.
