For each section, you will need to embed portions of these assignments and activities as artifacts to substantiate your reflection. Explain what you mean.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supported by evidence as represented by your artifacts (course materials, photographs, video, conversations, projects, news reports, authentic materials, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specific, addressing particular strengths, weakness, skills, transformative experiences, etc., avoiding vague generalizations (ex: \u201cI learned a lot.\u201d).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An Effective Reflection is not<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Only sharing an artifact without context or discussion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only a description or explanation of an artifact. Focus on your learning and growth as a result of having completed that experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An attempt to justify your work to an instructor. Instead, think more broadly about future audiences that might benefit from seeing evidence of your work and the skills you are developing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Artifacts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good artifact is a portion or clip of an assignment. It needs to be carefully selected to provide evidence\/proof that supports what you are saying in your reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your reflection will help you determine what that will be. It is a quest for quality. It will represent you academically and professionally, and have personal meaning. It can be written, audio, or video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end, ask yourself if the artifacts best demonstrates your abilities and growth over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of your reflection in each section, link or embed the assignment\/artifact. If the assignment has multiple pages and seems to overwhelm the section, consider adding just the first page and offering to provide the rest upon request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exploring Culture<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The products and practices that helped me gain an understanding of cultural perspectives are Lingrolearing, and discussion boards and talk abroad conversations. I was able to see how other countries cuisines, sports preferences and language varied from my own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The way I was able to understand the values of Spanish cultures and my own was discussion boards, through the videos I watched I gained knowledge of the foods that the people of those countries eat, and even their favorite sports and compared them to my own. It gave me a greater understanding of how big the world is and how we all have similarities and differences. I understand now that, no matter where you reside their maybe things that pertain to a certain culture but that doesn&#8217;t mean that everyone likes those things for example, I expected most people favorite sport from Spanish speaking countries to be f\u00fatbol because many of the greatest f\u00fatbol players come from Spanish speaking countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Engaging in Communities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The importance of engaging in communities is that you will learn more about the people who surround you especially in America where there is a diverse culture around me but also learning more about the countries around the world and seeing how we differ and are similar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/span101f\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33139\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-16.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/span101f\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33139\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-16-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/span101f\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33139\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-16-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/span101f\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33139\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-16-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/span101f\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33139\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-16-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/span101f\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33139\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-16-534x300.png 534w, https:\/\/sites.wp.odu.edu\/span101f\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33139\/2023\/07\/Screenshot-16.png 1366w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interpersonal Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The different forms of communication such as TalkAbroad, discussion boards and even conversations with the instructor have been very helpful. These forms of communication helped me grow and advanced my Spanish speaking skills. I was also able to learn more about different cultures and the people of those cultures while completing these assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With each activity I have grown and become more knowledgeable about the world around me, I would eventually like to travel to some of these countries to get a firsthand experience in the culture. Speaking in Spanish was the most difficult part for me, I can understand and say wors and or phrases, but I would like to speak more fluidly and be able to be understood better. What I did to overcome the difficulty of speaking Spanish was practice and complete more assignments, with each assignment I became better with my speech. I exceled at understanding Spanish words, I can hear or see words and make a guess as to what is being said, the words are almost similar to the English language if I hear them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Presentational Speaking<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In English, give a brief 2-3-line description of any presentational speaking activities you completed this semester inside or outside of class for or related to your Spanish learning. Include a recording of one of these speaking activities. (See Modes of Communication link for description and examples).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, in a paragraph, write a reflection that includes each presentation you completed in which you explain what challenged you and how you grew and overcame those challenges.\u00a0 What did you excel at? What\/how would you do differently next time?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I performed TalkAbroad conversation that were essential to my understanding of the Spanish Language. I gained knowledge about different cultures and what the people of those cultures like and how they compare to my own culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the TalkAbroad conversations I was nervous to speak to someone from another country, what if they didn\u00b4t understand me? The partners I had were very great my first partner actually spoke English as well so when I did mess up, he helped me along in the conversation and made me feel very comfortable opening up about my family. With my second partner It was a little more difficult I didn&#8217;t understand everything but nonetheless the conversation was still great, I got some take aways from that conversation and saw where I needed improvement. Overall, both conversations helped me grow as a person, and in speaking Spanish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Presentational Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The writing assignments I had to complete in this course is my discussion boards, I was able to interact with my classmates and also learn more about different Spanish speaking countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each discussion board, I gained a greater understanding of Spanish cultures while also listening to my classmate&#8217;s reflection of what they learned about these cultures as well. My understanding, and my ability to speak Spanish was broadened with each discussion board. I want to continue to learn more about each culture and eventually experience these cultures by visiting these countries. These helped me understand more words and being able to add them to my vocabulary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I learned about characteristics such as, ugly\/handsome (feo\/guapo), I was able to learn professions and even about family members. These things helped me with future assignments such as TalkAbroad, conversations with my instructor, and module quizzes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u00bfCu\u00e1l es tu deporte preferido? - Talking about sport in Spanish - Coffee Break Spanish To Go 1.10\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8HKfV9u6ehE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interpretive Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We had opportunities to read articles such as the healthcare system in Spain which allowed me to compare it to the healthcare system here in America.
