My name is Lauren Riddick. I’m a senior at Old Dominion University, majoring in History and minoring in Women’s Studies; and this is my very last class of my undergraduate studies!!!! I’ve been accepted into the University of Texas at Dallas graduate program for Fall 2023 to continue my history studies. I aim to earn my Ph.D. in History and secure a teaching position at a research university. I would love to focus my academic studies on Black birth workers of the south since the 20th century.

In my personal life, I’m a self-taught chandler (candlemaker), a novice baker, and a league bowler! I often travel domestically, and my favorite cities are New York City and Austin, TX (where I now live!). I’m planning to get my passport later this year finally, and hope to be able to extend my travels to international borders as soon as possible. I love old films, old music, and new foods and experiences.
