My Path Forward…

I am an Information Systems Technician (IT) in the U.S. Navy, with 11+ years of experience in Systems Administration and Cybersecurity. I currently hold 2 Microsoft Certified IT Professional certifications and am currently working on a re-certifying in CompTIA Security+.

I have always been interested in understanding the world around me. The time that I served overseas in Yokosuka, Japan and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii has only further pushed me towards broadening my understanding of foreign cultures, including my choice to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in World Languages & Cultures, with a minor in Spanish. I am always interested in hearing the stories of people of all different backgrounds I am continuously surprised by what I learn from them.

That curiosity is why I am ultimately pursuing a career as a Forensic Linguist (specialization in Spanish); however, while finishing my degree, I continue to work in the cybersecurity field.

During my 2 years with the Naval Network Warfare Command (NNWC) here in Norfolk, Virginia, I was awarded Blue Jacket of the Quarter with a follow-up nomination for a second one, as well as a personal recommendation by my Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) for orders to Naval Communications and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Sicily.
