Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Exploring culture
Throughout my time in Spanish101 I had many different things that helped me understand and appreciate the Spanish culture more. I mostly had my friends and family help me. Most of my friends and family do in fact speak Spanish and they helped with me understanding Spanish more. During my time in Spanish101 I had many hardships with the class. I had to not only learn how to read and write a whole new language, but I had to learn how to say the words. Speaking Spanish was such a hard thing for me due to the fact that I solely only speak English. Learning about the Hispanic culture was very fun for me. I deeply enjoyed finding new things to say in class and how to expand my Spanish vocabulary. However, there were some hard parts, it was hard translating what was being said in English to Spanish. For example, the way the words/ sentences are formed in Spanish is completely different in English. Engaging in communities Like I have stated before, I really enjoy talking to my friends and family in Spanish. I often had my Spanish speaking friends give me sentences to say in Spanish and they would help me from there. It was very important to me to walk into this class and learn something new and be able to take it along with me. I personally feel that it is vital to practice what you learn because it helps you grow. I think its really important to engage and use what you know in conversations. Interpersonal Communication During this course there were many opportunities to interact with other students and or friends out side of class. I had a lot of fun making my videos for class. In my videos you can see me talking to friends or just to myself. Presentational speaking truthfully, I can say that I have done plenty presentational speaking in this class, it was more of us in videos talking but I have done my fair share of these in the class. let me show you an example. Interpretive reading Some of the things that I have done to enhance my Spanish vocabulary would have to be from music! I really like music and I felt that was the best way for me to learn. Listening to music is the best way for me to learn many new things. I personally really like Hispanic music. I really like the beat and I like the message, I feel that the music is way more romantic and actually has meaning. Of course, listening to music in a different language is difficult because I don't totally understand what they are saying. However, many of the words in Spanish are very easy to translate to English because it has like an English base to it. I just find the music to be an interesting way for me to learn and a easier way for me to understand and learn new words and things!
