Exploring Culture
One thing that really helped me in this Spanish semester as far as understanding new material was taking time to really understand the vocab and conjugations. Also taking time to apply teachers corrections in the assignment’s made it easier to understand fix the assignment so next time i did it, it was more correct and cleaner Spanish.

Something that really helped me understand Spanish was the family project i begin to understand how to label everyone and how to address my family and even how to describe them. Being able to describe people and learn how to address people is a very crucial part of basic language speaking so i am happy i could learn it. Something that also helped me was understanding the endings of each name to know if it was a girl or boy, which after a while started to help me understand more people in Spanish.
Engaging in Communities
Learning other Countries way of addressing each other not only makes the language more easier to understand but promotes a solid connection to the material and facilitates knowing how to connect your family tree. Not knowing or improperly addressing someone can be a very bad thing so knowing how to address friends and family is crucial.
Interpersonal Communication
Talk- Abroad is a website where you talk to people from all across the country and you speak whatever lanuage you are learning back and forth with them to see how well you can talk conversationally.
I thoroughly enjoyed both of my Talk- Abroad sessions, not only did me and my partner have great conversation but i did a lot better than i thought i would. Something that was challenging was having to understand what they were saying online and be able to answer to return the question in a timely manner, but after awhile i started to do better about saying it back and forth. Something i did well on was picking up keywords in their sentence and being able to understand what they were saying and being able to answer back. Hearing keywords and being able to piece together what was being said is a great way to start to understand Spanish and start getting good at conversations.
Presentational Speaking
During my Talk- Abroad me and my partner had talked all about me and my plans for the holidays and even what foods i like and stuff along that nature. She took time to get to know me and we asked each other questions to get to know one another all speaking in Spanish.

In my first Talk- Abroad session i was nervous because i had never done anything like that before and now i was going to be talking to someone who spoke Spanish fluently. When i logged on and we started talking all about me and where i was from and my family i started to get comfortable because i knew how to properly answer all the questions. Something i had to do from the first session to the second was be a little more confident in my Spanish speaking. I worked hard on the pronunciations and accents and i feel as though my speaking got a lot more solid and flowed better throughout the semester.
Presentational Writing
We had quite a few writing assignments due this semester and typically all of the assignments we had to write a complete explanation of everything in Spanish then we had to provide pictures to back it up and support what was being said or shown in the picture.

Using the vocab i had learned i was able to explain phrases or commands that i would normally use in English. Something that challenged me was using the correct form of verbs and knowing what tense to write in.
Interpretive Listening
Some interpretative listening we did this semester came from lingo learning where we would have to listen to what the women or man would say on the assignment and we would have to answer questions based off of what they had asked us.
I found these assignments to be incredibly difficult, i say this because the people might talk extremely fast and not completely clear so it would be hard to listen and decipher what they are exactly saying. But we were required to get the question correct even if it might not be out fault if we cant completely understand or make out what they person is telling us. I used my best judgment through context clues but this was still very challenging.
Interpretive Reading
In class we would be given small articles for us to read through and underline names if we did not understand the words. The articles would be on various different subjects but it was up to us to read and make sense of them and say something to our teacher if we didn’t understand.
These were difficult for me to read and really grasp because they were so random and kind of hard to explain. A lot of the vocabs were words that we really didn’t go over and we didn’t know, it wasn’t like big words we could underline so you had to fill in the blanks where you saw fit. I grew from this but learning new vocab words along with bridging together words i might not know to paint a full picture and grasp the concept we were learning.
