Hello and Welcome! Here are a few pieces of info about me. I am a rising junior with a major in dance. Also, I am a scholarship recipient for the program as well as Secretary for the ODU Dance Association. I was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. I love to dance and I love to perform! It has been my passion since I was five years old. Over the past almost 15 years, I have been training in ballet, modern, tap, hip-hop, African, and jazz dance. Ballet is the genre I have the most experience with, even though I have a love-hate relationship with it at times. As I began to explore other genres of dance, I found that contemporary modern is my favorite style. Also, my middle name is Akiya, which is Japanese for “autumn.”
