Before I had a formal job, I volunteered with Computers for Student Success at Tidewater Community College’s Virginia Beach Campus. There I became very familiar with not only computer concepts, but also personal security, how to wipe and preserve data, teamwork, and communication skills for those who wished to obtain a computer. I used this time to educate myself further on the technical side of computers, along with establishing relationships with the people I worked closely with. This environment took personal security and Cyber Security very seriously, being we were constantly working with peoples donated computers.
By working in the fitness industry, and dealing with warranty work for several corporations such as Precor, Johnson Health and Fitness, and Spirit Fitness, I gained the experience for updating and maintaining fitness systems not only on a local level, but on a networked level as well. I would often be working with updating systems, or ensuring that systems be online and correctly networked so that way the companies who sold the equipment could remotely check and maintain the health of units and ensure the health and safety of users will be secure. I have also worked closely with the NetFit departments to ensure proper function of fitness equipment on the floor.
