A social media page can convey much about a person’s personality, emotions, experiences, and most importantly their sports team alliances. For this social media page, I posted pictures that highlight some of my favorite moments from being around and working in sports. I mainly created this social media persona to track cool places and things that I have had the opportunity to do and see in my life through sports. These five pictures were chosen to highlight some of the more exciting moments and sporting events I have seen and been able to learn some things about the industry from. These posts and my life experience mostly deal with the sport of hockey. This has been my favorite sport since I was about four or five years old. I started playing shortly after this at about seven years old and have been playing ever since. Along with basketball and football, I have watched and played a lot of hockey and sports all together.
The first picture on this social page was taken on the ice at the Norfolk Scope, where the Norfolk Admirals play. I intern there currently and have since last summer. One of the perks of this internship, apart from seeing professional hockey games, is we get to skate on the ice from time to time. This picture was taken from the first time we got to skate after the game and was an exciting experience.
The second post is from one of the sporting events I attended this season. One of my favorite teams is the Pittsburgh Penguins, and my dad and I try to see at least one game per season. One of my career aspirations is to work for an NHL team at some point and hopefully even for the Penguins one day. It was taken in PPG Paints arena in Pittsburgh which is one of the league’s best arenas.
The third picture on this page was taken from the ODU football stadium student section this season when ODU played Marshall at home. It was a fun game and one of the last ones I attended before I graduate this spring. ODU ended up losing the ball game, but since I attended this game after I began my internship, I used it as an opportunity to observe people working the game. Student photographers or interns who worked the event-day day operations to bring the game to life were the people I was looking for.
The fourth picture in this set was taken in PNC Park in Pittsburgh also when I attended a Pirates/Phillies game in the summer of 2024. I was lucky enough to see Paul Skenes pitch against the Phillies in a game where they won the game on a walk-off home run. Also after the game they had fireworks for Independence Day and we walked across the Clemente Bridge. This is one of my favorite memories ever at any sporting event from just how fun it was.
Finally, the last picture on this page is another one from my internship with the Norfolk Admirals. It was taken from the ice level right before the national anthems were performed. One of my duties there is to escort the anthem singers to the ice and back to their seats every night. This is an exciting part of any night that I get to work as I get to feel the energy and excitement of a game starting firsthand.
