Nursing

I intend to purse a major in Nursing and am thinking about getting a minor in Sociology with a Social Welfare Specialization. I decided to become a nursing major because since I was a baby I have overcome many medical challenges. I was born premature with a septal defect and had to see a cardiologist until the beginning of Elementary school when I grew out of it. My freshman year of high school I developed an immunodeficiency and allergies. I had to see an Internist, an Allergy specialist, a Pulmonary specialist, an ENT, and many other specialist to try and get an understanding of everything I had developed. Throughout this process I saw the importance of the care team and how a supportive team can change the view of everything going on around me during this challenging time. After this I decided I wanted to be that support system for future children and bring joy to their dark times. In high school I took a CNA course but wasn’t able to gain experience. Due to Covid we weren’t allowed to go help in the Nursing Homes.
