As of right now I feel I am doing well in all my classes except history. I have formed a study group
for chemistry and chem lab that has helped me do well on our most recent test. For math and
sociology, I have found a way to understand the concepts and do well on the tests and
homework. I’m struggling in history because I don’t feel comfortable communicating with the
professor. I’ve gone to the library for research help for our History Snapshot Project. I’m most
worried about presenting the project in front of the class because I have a fear of public speaking.
Coming to college I thought I wasn’t going to be able to have that much of a social life while
keeping up with schoolwork. I’ve realized that I can make time for friends and activities going on
around campus and keep up with my schoolwork. My collage experience is different then I
expected because I’ve been able to focus on school and not get distracted by things going on
around me. I’ve been able to maintain a schedule without having my parents there to tell me
what to do. My biggest challenge on campus is being able to have a study environment in my
dorm with having a roommate. My roommate and I have different study habits which makes it
difficult to complete tasks sometimes. I’ve been able to overcome this because I’ll wake up early
so, I can work in silence, or I go to a study room. Something I learned about my major is that if I
don’t get into the nursing program at ODU I can enroll in the concurrent program and still get my
BSN from ODU. I am still leaning towards nursing right now but have other majors that are
interesting to me. I’m still not sure if I want to change my major so that I can become a PA or
continue with nursing. I also plan on getting a minor in sociology. The only issue I encountered
this semester was my difficulty with my annotated bibliography. I went to the research center in
the library to help me with this. I’ve gotten help from my success coach and a few friends from
class this semester. My success coach has told me about resources to go to when I need help and
my classmates have helped me with homework and we’ve created a study group. I’ve joined LSA
and have gone to an interest meeting for Global Brigades. I decided to get involved with Global
Brigades because I feel it would be a good opportunity and a fun experience
