Protecting Availability

A Chief Information security officer (CISO) has many responsibilities that comes with working for an organization. They work alongside cybersecurity teams, business and IT managers, company officers, etc. Their job is to maintain and monitor the security of their organizations databases , systems, computers, websites, applications, and more. Availability is important because it ensures data is still maintained to use even if it is damaged or lost.

What protections would you implement to ensure availability and why?

If I were a CISO, I would have a few implements to ensure availability.

•Use Failover systems. Why? That way I have a backup facility so that the functions of the system component are being handled automatically by another system when former experiences fail.

•Network load balancing. Why? If a server fails all instances are replaced and traffic is redirected to functional servers.

•Failure Detectability. Why?  That way I would have a built in automation to handle to avoid common cause failures.

•I would update my softwares and operating system often. Why? It helps patch security flaws. It also helps program failures, improves compatibility, and helps stop attacks. Hackers like to get the vulnerable software that have weaknesses such as the ones that are not updated. Failure to keep your systems updated makes them more vulnerable to cyber-attacks.
