Workplace deviance is the intent to harm a workplace, the behavior voluntarily violates norms and created threats to the workplace. There are 4 types of deviance, and they are production, property, political and personal aggression. workplace deviance has always been around but ever since the use of cyber technology, workplace deviance is safer for that type of employee. If an employee is deviant in the cyber field, it can cause way more damage and can go unnoticed. an example of workplace deviance could be an unhappy employee choosing to lash out at the company, ways they could lash out is either giving out valuable information or downloading malware on the computers. Both of these are deviant and should never happen, but it would be easy to let them go unnoticed. If an employee is fired in the cyber field, he could download important information and sell it for financial gain. If the employee wasn’t fired and he came back to work and just kept downloading information, then this could lead to more damage. Another example of workplace defiance in the cyber field is for an employee to expose the weakness of the company, like shutting down systems or finding holes in the security of the company. This could lead to a lot of damage because hackers or other companies could take over and hurt the company to the point where they never recover. Workplace deviance will continue to occur in all types of work but in cyber fields, it will be easier to execute.
