SCADA system analyzes data from factories in real-time, which gives workers the ability to control things with better visibility. \u201cThe main thing about SCADA is that it is operated by humans, a supervisory system gathers all data, Remote terminal units helps convert signals to digital data, a programable logic controller are used as field devices, and communication infrastructure helps connect remote terminal units to the supervisory system,\u201d(Kirkpatrick).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vulnerability of SCADA systems consists of bugs that are like stack overflows and information disclosures. These allow attackers to do obituary code to DOS or steal information from the company. The reason they are so vulnerable to these attacks is that their integration of technologies and standards to the design is fairly new. The SCADA system is secure but only secure as its weakest link. That is why it is important for firewalls and intrusion detection systems to be present at all times. More SCADA attacks consist of the equipment being turned on and off or the pumps being run faster than usual. Those are enough to make machinery run wild and out of sequence.
