Different colors can symbolize different emotions. I was familiar with blue representing sadness and red representing anger. However, I never thought about the colors in between such as orange, purple, white, and pink. This assignment taught me that there are a wide color of emotions and that it could be as different as the color violet. I believe that some colors can represent different emotions across cultures and individually. For me, dark colors such as gray, brown, and black represent sadness. This item to archive was interesting and I enjoyed the fact that it made me think.

I chose this image because it represents all the colors of emotion and I believe that some of them can feel like an explosion sometimes. Each color can represent a different emotion to different individuals.

TA 4

The item to archive in module nine looked at gender stereotypes in the workplace. I liked this one because it is very realistic to our world today. Women are still fighting to be able to do jobs that men do and vice versa. The assignment taught me that we unconsciously believe these stereotypes. For instance, both my partner and I said that being a babysitter and a teacher was a female’s job. This is not necessarily true. Males can be babysitters and females can be an architect. This assignment pushed me to reevaluate my beliefs and to be less biased.

I chose this image because it embodies the assumed jobs of males and females.

TA 3

Emotion is not as simple as being happy and sad. Module seven definitely made that clear to me. With the item to archive assignment, I learned that there are socially disengaged emotions and socially engaged emotions and that they are apart of the self-construal. After writing out my five happy episodes, I realized that I could apply these emotions to my everyday life. I even began to write out more examples and categorize them under the two different types of emotions.

I chose this image because although socially disengaged emotions and socially engaged emotions are completely different, they share the emotion happiness. All of my situations/episodes were happy, but fell under separate categories.

TA 2

This class has been all about culture and all the various components of it. I have certainly learned that every culture is different, and unique. It is what makes a country or a group of people stand out. In my culture, music is very important. Music is used to relieve stress, express feelings and emotions, and to simply have fun on a gloomy day. I know that music is also sacred or important in other cultures around the world and I think that that is awesome.

I picked this image because it represents how diverse music can be with the various colors in the background.

TA 1

Module four was one of my favorite modules because it analyzed culture and traveling. For this item to archive, I chose to compare the United States to Italy. With this assignment, I learned that the values of those in the United States and those of Italy are not too different. Both countries highly value freedom, equality, and individualism. On the other hand, the US was more likely to self indulge. This archive helped me to realize that although a place may seem extremely far away, it still may feel like home.

Values of US & Italy: I chose this picture because it represents the comparison of values between the US and Italy.

TA 5 Module eleven’s item to archive was about color and emotion.
