The course objectives will have a large impact on my education. Each one of the objectives are important because they are simply explaining what I will learn from social psychology. They will help me in the future by allowing me to refer back to the information I learned in the class because this information being taught can be applied to every day life activities. My expectations for this course are to become more aware of people and why the way that they are. The next expectation is that I become more of a person who writes everything down so that I can easily access my information. I am hoping to gain, to think more like psychologist or even a sociologist. I believe that the two are not the same but are similar in certain aspects. The strategies that I plan to implement are, to become a better note taker and to read assigned texts thoroughly.

I chose this image because I briefly spoke about taking better notes and writing things down. I think that it shows that I am off to great start for this semester.

What kind of student am I? I believe that I am the type of student who will complete all the assigned assignments designed for the course that is being taken. I am also the type of student to turn my assignments in before the designated due date. I turn my assignments in early because, I go over the all the assignments throughout the course and make up in my mind that I will complete it before the actual due date. I also do this because it gives me time to look at the next upcoming assignment and begin my process of how and when I will go about completing it. I think that this method is also useful because I have other classes as well and if I complete one assignment ahead of time, I could then begin my coursework for other classes. Overall, I could use the free days to study and go back over some information that I may have missed. I am also the kind of student who will never complain about the assignments because complaining will not make things better, it actually may slow you down and hinder you. I am also this kind of person outside of being a student. The GSE Test correlates to this assignment so well because it is displaying who a person is and how they function in certain situations.

I chose this image because I was explaining how the GSE test correlates to the assignment and I wanted to show what my results were because it aligns with my explanation of what kind of student that I am.

Can similar music preferences lead to attraction? that is the question that I will be answering in this blog discussion. To answer that question, yes I believe that similar taste in music can lead to attraction. I answered yes because, I do this in platonic relationships. For example, if I am just meeting someone for the first time and we get on the subject of music and it is discovered that we both like the same genres, I will immediately want to hang out and talk with the person more. Personally, I feel more comfortable having conversations with people that are similar to me. It just gives me a sense of peace. On the romantic aspect it is the same case for me. If I am on social media and I see a guy in the car singing a song that I like, I will immediately become attracted. The association with songs and people are a great way for me to remember someone by. I will attach a song to person if that person has danced or claimed a song to be their favorite song. My nephew loves to dance to, The Woo by Pop Smoke. When the radio plays that song, I then begin to think of my nephew because that is the song he loves the most to dance to. Music and relationships are certainly intertwined.

This week it was assigned that we review our first exam results and discuss what information was learned from reviewing the exam. I personally like how the exam is designed because after you submit the exam, you get results immediately. I do not like to wait for assignments to be graded, I want to results as soon as possible just to settle my anxiety. The more that I wait the more I start to assume that I did not do so well on the assignment. After reviewing my results from exam one, I believe that if would have took my time and read the question thoroughly then there is a chance that I could have gotten the questions that I missed, correct. How I went about studying was, just reading as I go. For example, as I would complete assignment designated to the chapter, I would then read all that pertained to a certain chapter. I scored well on the first test so if I continue to keep on reading and learning something new then I think that I will do well in the entire course. I just have to be sure that I stay on top of things and do not become lazy.

This image is an example of what some of my notes look like and how I take notes.

This is image A and it represents an attractive source. This is considered to be attractive because it is pertaining to shopping. I am a woman and I love to shop, especially for clothes and shoes. I am in my early twenties and I love when clothing stores release a new collection, the stores always find a way to lure me in to buy something new.
This is image 2 and it represents a not credible source. Wikipedia has numerous amounts of information to read from but it is hard to decipher which information is credible and which information is not. In my high school years, a teacher taught us to not cite or quote information from Wikipedia because anyone can enter information on the site and it may not be a credible source. After that explanation, when I have to complete a written assignment I am cautious about what sources I use.
This is image 3 and it represents a credible source. This image is from the Virginia Department of Health. Coronavirus has been such a major thing in everyday lives these days. Now that there are vaccines to help fight virus, people are indecisive about if they want to have the vaccine or not. The Virginia Department of Health is a credible source to me because if I want to educate myself on the virus, the vaccine or testing, I could just browse the website and find all the facts that I need to know. I would also want to go through the Virginia Department of Health to get covid-19 testing done because the test will be administered and handled properly.

My reaction to the Ted Talk about ads was not shocked because social media has sort of made us have this perception of people that is not reality. For example, you have woman who are portrayed in certain light on social media and that is not who they are in reality on a day to day basis. I love social media but it can sometimes be used in a negative manner when it could be used in a positive manner. I will be attaching five ads that relate to the Ted Talk.

Blog entry 1 and Blog entry 10 are important because it is the first entry and the last entry. As I reread my blog entry 1 from the beginning of the semester I see that I have definitely learned new things and new concepts. I did just as I said I would do with writing down things more and reading thoroughly. This course taught me so many new things about social psychology and how people operate in society and social media.

I believe that I did accomplish the course objectives. Each week I made sure to stay on task with each assignment and each module. I also made sure that I wrote down everything that stood out to me. Yes, my attitude towards social psychology did change during course because in the beginning I really did not have that much knowledge on it and now that I have a better understanding, I can relate more. If I took the course again one thing that I would do different is go through the course syllabus prior to the first class meeting. One way that I have grown academically is making sure that my grades are at a B average or better. One skill that I gained in this course is how to be more tech savvy. WordPress really teaches you when it comes to technology.

This image represents my academic growth throughout the semester. I briefly spoke about how I wanted to keep my grades at an B average and this is not my final grade but it is my current grade.

There are multiple concepts that this course has educated me on. I appreciate how they all correlate to the outside world. I can take what I learn each week and apply it to my everyday lifestyle. The top three concepts that I learned throughout this course are, self-regulation, emotional intelligence, The different types of ads and Similarities lead to attraction.

Self-regulation and emotional intelligence stood out to me because I learned that, with the right tools you can learn how deal with certain emotions and how to get the mind to relax. Emotional intelligence goes hand in hand with this because in order to control these emotions you have to be able to adjust your emotions. The second concept that I learned is the different types of ads. Certain ads have a specific title depending on the content of the ad. It was fun to research all the different examples of ads. The third concept that I learned was if similarities led to attraction. I believe that similarities do lead to attraction, I say this because people like when they have the same things in common with each other. The assignment takeaways and the assignments correlate because the assignment takeaways are synopses of the main assignment.

My Introduction to Sociology class and this class have been aligning with each other here and there throughout the course. Psychology and Sociology are not the same but they are similar because they focus on different topics but have a branch that connect them. In my Introduction to sociology class we are currently studying health and wellness and that to me correlates to Self-Regulation and Emotional Intelligence.

While reading the attached article that discussed mating, a few thought came to mind. First, I thought how most of the information is true. When I read information, I see if it applies to my everyday life and this is why I say that the information is true. The information about what upsets woman and man after a breakup really does happen. I have never experienced the stalking but men do tend to try to make the woman jealous after a breakup and I think this is because the feelings are still there and neither parties will not confront those feelings. Men upset woman when they become to flirty and friendly with another woman that they may be attracted to. Women upset men when they decide to be unfaithful in a committed relationship. Women also anger the man when they are honest about certain things. I know that the truth hurts but people do like to hear the truth whether they like it or not.

Self-Regulation and Emotional Intelligence correlate because in order to incorporate one you have to have the other. For example, self-regulation is a person being able to allow their body or mind to process things on its own without the help of anything. The body or mind can adjust to certain situations easily. Next. Emotional intelligence comes into the picture because in order for the mind or body to adapt to situations you have to emotionally intelligent about how you want to control your emotions. I could improve my Emotional Intelligence by doing the body scan as suggested in the video. I tend to become frustrated in some situations and if I were to do the body then I believe it would relax me and bring me out of the frustration state.

This image that is attached is a snapshot of my results from the EQ test I took.
