These pics included revision, taste, and race. What resonated to me specifically, was the article<em> <\/em>&#8220;Hidden Intellectualism&#8221; by Gerald Graff, in which, he underlines the major ways in which his reading affected who he is, and how he thinks. The specific area that I resonated with, was where he explained that much of his reading as a kid centered around sports-related non-fiction. I was the same way growing up so I was immediately privy to what he had to say. This week changed the way I think about what I read. The creative non-fiction I read is not &#8220;low-brow,&#8221; or &#8220;simple&#8221; reading just because it about (what would be considered) &#8220;blue-color&#8221; topics like sports and music. Rather, what I read is very academic and complex, it is simply different than what is commonly considered academic. This has in-turn become essential to how I write now. I put less pressure on myself to sound a <em>certain way<\/em>, and more pressure to sound like <em>myself<\/em>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Week Three covered an array of topics!
