While I have not been involved in any Spanish language or culture outside of the classroom, I would like that to change. The first way that I would like to be more involved in the Spanish language and culture is by supporting and\/or attending events in the Language Learning Center at Old Dominion University. Also, I have already done research on events that celebrate the Spanish language and culture in and around my community that I would like to attend. For example, one of my close friends who is Colombian and Ecuadorian, invited myself and some of my other friends to the annual Norfolk Taco Festival on July 8th, 2023. This event is very special, because it not only celebrates multiple hispanic cultures, but there are also over 75 styles of authentic tacos to try, authentic mariachi and folkloric dancers, and much more! Another way that I would like to become more involved in the Spanish language community and culture is by continuing to learn and practice the Spanish language, even after my schooling ends. I have already taken steps to accomplish this through the use of DuoLingo learning, an academic app that allows individuals to learn and perfect their Spanish speaking. The last way that I would like to become more involved in the Spanish language culture and community, is by visiting Spanish speaking countries. Whether I accomplish this through study-abroad or personal trips, I am truly looking forward to experiencing the authentic cultures of these wonderful countries! The first Spanish-speaking countries that I would like to visit are Spain, Portugal, and Costa Rica!
