Summative Reflection
In what ways have you improved as a student of French language and culture this semester? What brought about those changes? Include an artifact(s) that contains specific experiences, readings, assignments, or discussions in this course that supports your point.*
I think I have improved a lot in forming actual sentences as well as expanding in my vocabulary. My pronunciation has gotten a lot better and looking back from where I started, I feel very accomplished.
2. What did you learn about French language and culture by creating artifacts? Be specific.*
I learned a lot about this language and culture. It is interesting to compare their customs and language to American habits.
3. What was your biggest accomplishment in the course?*
Completing this course and improving in the language has been a huge accomplishment for me. This was my first exposure to this culture and language and looking back from the beginning, starting from nothing I have come very far. This course was challenging and juggling it with my other courses has been really beneficial.
4. How did this artifact and other course elements help you reach it? Be specific.*
I think immerse me helped a lot. I enjoyed feeling like I really was there and being able to see different French environments. The repetition made things easier with memorization and spelling because you see and hear the same sentences over and over.
5. Reexamine your first artifact. Why study French? Has your answer changed, developed more fully, or remained the same? Explain.*
I chose to study French because it is interesting to me. I hope to travel to France one day and it would be really cool to order a latte in French! I also think it would be very useful in my future career because I will be working with people with so many different backgrounds. I believe that you can learn a lot from people with different backgrounds especially that live in different countries and eliminating the language barrier can be a huge help.
