My passion for sports began when I started playing softball at the age of nine and continued throughout high school. During my athletic career, I was selected to the All-Star team three years in a row and primarily played shortstop and pitched. In my senior year, I expanded my athletic involvement by participating in track and field, specializing in the shot put. To my surprise, I was good at it and consistently placed first and second in multiple meets throughout the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My interest in football developed later in life. Although my family was long-time Dallas Cowboys fans, my personal connection to the sport formed after attending my first professional football game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The atmosphere, fan engagement, and overall game-day experience played a significant role in shaping my appreciation for football culture. Since that experience, I have attended additional games, become actively involved in fantasy football leagues, and developed a comprehensive understanding of the sport. I have a competitive nature and like to win, but I know it is not all there is for sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also developed an interest in basketball and became a fan of the Boston Celtics. This connection was influenced by the team\u2019s traditions, including its association with Irish heritage, which aligns with my appreciation for St. Patrick\u2019s Day. Born on March 14, I have always loved the holiday, making the Celtics a natural and meaningful choice. Also, green is my favorite color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding my professional career, I do not consider myself a typical graduate student. I have worked at Old Dominion University for over twenty years and find my current role both meaningful and fulfilling. While I had not previously considered a career in sports, my experiences as a team parent and my involvement in workforce learning activities have broadened my perspective. Exploring potential career paths and learning about opportunities in the sports industry has been unexpectedly engaging and has prompted me to reflect on a possible career transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope this blog becomes a reflective space to document my academic and professional growth as I explore the role of sports in my life and potential career path. This blog will serve as both a learning tool and a professional portfolio, allowing me to track my development, articulate evolving interests, and thoughtfully examine the possibility of a career transition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
