Max Greenhood is the owner and creator of RocketBike, a business that creates advertisements, logos, and websites for other businesses. Greenhood creates advertisements for non-profit, for-profit and tourism organizations.
Max grew up in the restaurant business with his family but had no plans of starting his own business. Instead, he wanted to be an artist. He recorded an album and had full plans on starting his music career. His music career did not work out, but Max explains in his speech that he is happy it didn’t work out. Max attended JMU and very early got introduced to the fundamentals of all things business. He also taught himself photoshop while in college which was his first step toward creating his own business, as well as stock markets. Max took control of the stock market that his parents had money in for him and turned the $5,000 in the stock market, into $12,000. With that money, Max moved to Egypt upon graduation and worked for different technology companies. When he returned to the U.S., Max moved into his sister’s basement, set up a desk area, and started the process of creating RocketBike.
With his parents business failing and his dad being diagnosed with cancer, Max decided to move back home to Portsmouth to help out and relied on RocketBike for his income. The start was slow, but he finally caught his big break.
One of Greenhood’s first clients was a technology company in Los Angeles, California. Several out-of-state clients heard about this business and requested RocketBike for their advertising needs, increasing his clientele and his employee population. Greenhood was then forced to expand RocketBike from his tiny workspace in his spare bedroom, into a larger and more permanent workspace in Olde Towne Portsmouth.
