Exploring Culture<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many things contributed to my understanding of different cultural perspectives. My Spanish 101 class assignments and online module resources helped me. Also being an open minded helped me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my class, I was able to not only learn the language but I was able to learn about different traditions and values in the Hispanic culture. I came into this class with an open mind and it has caused me to learn a lot. There was assignment that we had that explore Hispanic holiday traditions and picked the one that we thought was the most interesting. It helped me realize that yes we are different but we are not that different. We might celebrate holidays differently but there are still some ways that we are similar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important to engage in your community to connect with others who might not be like you. You can learn something from them and they might learn something from you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interpretive Listening<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some listening activities that I have completed are videos from lessons, listening quizzes, listening to music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the semester, I listened to many things to make sure that I understand it. I listen to words being pronounced so that I knew the right way to say them when I wanted to use them. I also listened to Spanish music sometimes to test myself and try to see if I can translate what the song is saying. My favorite artist to listen to is Daddy Yankee. It is sometimes challenging to understand everything that is being said but I can understand most of it. Also, sometimes I will look up the lyrics and find the words that I do not know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interpretive Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some things that I have read include discussion board post from my fellow classmates, homework assignments, and readings from new lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These activities were sometimes challenging because at first I was not used to reading something that was all in Spanish. I overcame this difficulty by learning how to read the passages little by little to comprehend it better. I would always find it cool when I am able to understand a passage because I feel like I have accomplished something big. I grow with each assignment because I am practicing more and get better every day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
